The Weekend update

This past weekend we had so much fun.  Saturday we got up and had some pancakes for breakfast!  watched some TV because it was getting dark and cooler outside and with Fall coming up very fast we just hung in for a little.  We then went and picked up my Aunt who just celebrated her birthday a few days before!  So we took her to lunch to have a birthday lunch.  After we went to Wickham farms in Penfield.  We looked at the animals and walked around just taking some pictures and hanging out.

Later that night we had some dinner and cake and celebrated my aunts birthday.  It was a great weekend.  Sunday we went to church and then just relaxed the rest of the day.  It was good to see Vicki and get to talk to her, we haven't gone in a few weeks and were due.  I'm glad Quinn likes to go and Vicki got to giver Quinn her birthday blessing.  After church we went home to just relax and get some house cleaned.  Uncle Kenny came over and hung out.  The day was slow and Quinn and I just relaxed.

Well I wanted to Say Happy Birthday to you Aunt Ro!

Happy Birthday Oma!!

My Mom's birthday was Tuesday after Memorial Day.  Wednesday we got together and had some home made pasta and cake!  We did have so much fun.  Uncle Kenny came over and we celebrated with him as well.  I know my Mom was excited to see us and Quinn, she has done so much for me over the years and there is no way to ever repay her.  Even though I know she wouldn't want it anyway.  Moms are very special their unconditional love.  I forgot my camera but my Dad took some pics and sent me them.   My brother and I got her a recorder she wanted and she was excited.

I hope you had a great b-day Mom/Oma!!
Enjoy the pics!

Oma and Quinn!

We had such a good night.  Happy Birthday Mom

It's Friday Night!

Once again it's Friday, and you know what that means!  HFM!  Hughey, Fish fry and a Movie! I picked up the munch and we came home.  Hughey stopped over with some dinner and we all at the table.  It was cute Quinn loves her fish fry's now and can't wait for them.  After dinner we sat down to watch some TV and just relax.

The days are getting shorter and this year is reported to have a bad winter.  I can already tell because it is very cold for this time of year.  It is also getting darker so after dinner it usually is dark and cold so we cuddle in for a warm night and some movies.  Quinn went to bed and Hughey and I just hung out and watched a movie.  I do love this time of the year, the fall is just so amazing with the colors starting to change and I can't believe how fast the year went!  September is almost over!  October is coming and coming fast!  I love October and can't wait to blog about it!  For the rest of the weekend, we have some fun plans and I can't wait to update you all!

Getting Ready for the weekend

I set here tonight and I think about the weekend to come.  As a single dad I have to get some things planned out and just get our weekend ready.  I have some fun things planned like this might be the perfect time to go boating or go for a long walk and play at a playground.  As a single Dad who works two jobs sometimes the weekends come up faster than expected.  There have been weekends where I had to improvise and some weekends I had the whole weekend planned.

It is still hard because of how short the weekends are and how fast they go.  I try to just get her settled and show her I love her and that she's my little angle.  I know when Sunday comes its back to work and I have to wait to see her again on Wednesday.  I know the time is short and i know its never fair.  The life single parents lead is never fair however.  I guess somedays are better than others.  As for me, well today I talked to an old friend and it really cheered me up.  I have the weekend to look forward too and I'm just excited to relax with my baby girl...

I just wanted to post to any single parent out there and say i know your days are hard I know your nights are long but what you're doing is amazing.  You may not think others see it, but they do...

Always remember,
You are never alone...

Tuesday's Tip: Don't Waste Time

I was sitting at work one day looking back at my life and this post just started flooding my mind.   Maybe because I was reminiscing about past loves, or “the good old days”.  I turn 31 next month and I just can’t believe it sometimes.  I feel like I just turned 24.  I look back at my life and feel there are many parts that are wonderful, I try to embrace it and live in the moment but I wanted to take a second to reflect and then give some tips.

I don’t know if I can say what years of a person’s life are his best.  I think they all are different and unique.  I would how ever say a persons low to mid, to even later twenty’s are one of the best.  The 20’s are the years you grow, have fun, work, go to school and just live off you’re parents.  I would wake up and go to class, then come home and do some homework or go to work a little.  I always keep my school work up so I could go out!  Without going too much into my college years for I don’t want to loose my readers to an overly long post!  After college I took my first job and was partly seeing someone I cared about and cared about me.  I then started seeing someone else who I would eventually propose to in about 6months.  We wed and about a year later and a few different jobs we had a baby.  Then a short year or so later it was over.  I literally lived a life, got married had a baby and then got divorced in the matter of about 4-5 yrs.  The thing is those were clutch years.  I was about 24 when I dated and proposed, and 25 when I was married, always wanting to be young when I did I didn’t think to much about my last few years and just jumped into life.  Now I have the most amazing little girl but I sit her now at 30 and I’m living my life and working and trying to be a single dad but because I’m just a romantic at heart I feel broken, my trust is gone and I feel people I dated who were really good to me I lost.

Now I believe in going forward I do, but the meaning of this post isn’t to complain or go back and say “woulda, coulda, shoulda”.  It’s to say to any reader know where you are and embrace that time.  If you are young please embrace your youth, have fun you have your whole life to work and have a family.  I’m not saying never or just be 21 for ever, but once you hit 30 you look back and can’t believe how fast your 20’s went.  You can’t go to clubs and bar’s and stay out like you used to, flirting with girls that young.  Well I guess you can there comes a time to face your age.  I don’t I would be able to stay up!  I think after a movie with Hughey on Saturday nights I’m ready for bed by 11:00.   I grew up in my 20’s taking lots of pictures and I urge you all to do this, keep books of dates and adventures you go on and have.  I know you can start over at anytime in your life and there are no rules.  Being only 30 I’m sure there are people out there that are telling me I am still very young. LOL But the past 6 years of my life have been extremely different from when I started this around 24.  Now I work two jobs and have my daughter on the off days.  I ask for borrowed time and energy when I get out so I can make time for family and friends.  I plan a lot of things around work, and well honestly am not sure if there is a future at all for love or a family.

Would I like to go back and live a few days back in the past with no worries?  Of course I would.  There are a few times in my early 20’s I would love to take back and just live again.  We can’t how ever, our memories now live with us as the past and when friends get together we laugh over stories and things we did and how we are still even alive…  When my friends get together on special occasions we all joke about the same few lines but it still does help, keeps the youth in you alive.   Face it, we grow up and we move one.  We get married and go to work, our knees start to hurt and we find our selves tired by 10:30.  We look back at pictures and part of us laughs for the fun we had, and part of us cries for the time we lost.  Life is a gift and although I explained I may never remarry I still say this, live your live to the best you can.  Wake up and know that others may not be as fortunate as you and what you have you can’t waist.  You can’t take it for granted.  Your time is too precious, I know I don’t have too many readers in their 20’s but for some reason if someone young were to pass by this post I would tell them to enjoy their youth!  Work, go to school and just live, remember the days you have and have as many adventures as you possible can for those adventures will eventually turn into stories, and those stories will turn into memories and as time goes on memories fade…

So live you’re 20's!  If you are already past them then look back and remember them.  Think about an old time that makes you smile, pick up the phone and get some of your old friends together.  Memories can’t die if you keep them alive. Get together and share some old stories you have and remember.  I even love hearing stories from other people like my parents and friends.  When my family tells me stories of old I like to image them as they tell them, feel what the story would feel like, see, experience it as they tell it and laugh like they laughed.  I tell you now go and have an amazing day, think about at least one good memory, one good adventure and fun time you had.  It may make you smile, it may bring a tear to you’re eye.  It will however make you stop and sit and remember your days…

Don’t waste your time, use it…

Always remember…
You are never alone…

The Weekend Update

The past weekend came and went so fast!  I just can't believe it.  Friday we went to church and picked up some BBQ Chicken.  It was the last Chicken BBQ for the year they were doing so we got a few and went home to meet Hughey!  After dinner we relaxed on the couch and finished a movie we started  earlier last time.  Hotel for dogs, it was cute.  The next day Quinn and I went over to see my parents and say hello.  That night after dinner we just laid low.  It was still pretty warm and I could tell she was tired.  Hughey came over again to hang out but we just relaxed.

Sunday we got up and well, we were ready to go to church, but she couldn't make up her mind and I tried to get her to go but she got a little temper-mental.  Well we got over it but it was to late, I told her next time we are going to go and see Vicki.  (My minister is a big follower).  The rest of the day we just relaxed.  We played some games did some puzzles and just stayed in.  I love watching Quinn play in the family room, she pulled out all her toys and we made a tea party.  I got some cleaning done as she played with her stuffed animals.

It is so amazing how fast they grow up and how they just can keep occupied, their imagination is just so wonderful to view.  I love to peek in and just see her talking to her animals and getting this setup.  She is just so remarkable.  We stopped after and made some brownie cupcakes!  It was so fun and Quinn helped me.  She loves sitting up on the counter and just being my helper.  Getting the bowls and different things ready to bake.  When we were done we ate them up and the were so good!

I have a few blogs ready to post but waiting to get some pics in!  I do hope you enjoy these ones!

Just chilling with Hughey

Here they are!

We played with our toys!

Just goofing around

Sunday dinner

The weekend came and went, it's still tough being a single dad still as i write this blog on Wednesday I know I won't see her for a full week and although it has been about two years sometimes you just never fully adapt.  As I drive her to daycare tomorrow I will try to think about our great weekend and the past Wednesday we have shared.  I look for the weekend ahead and just try to keep moving...

Always remember...
You are never alone..

Tuesdays Tip: Just because you’re not scared doesn’t mean they aren’t

This past weekend Quinn came downstairs both nights to get me because she was scared after she went to sleep.  I put her to bed at her normal time and she brushed her teeth, we red some books and listened to music.  I laid her in bed and we said some prayers and she turned to sleep.  I went back down stairs and though I was set to watch a movie with Hughey and she snuck down.  Her little voice whispered “I’m Scared Daddy”.  Back up I carried her and went in her room, I tucked her in and asked why she was scared or what made her scared about her room.  She told me there were scary noises and I know her room is larger so I can see it happening.  I told her to try sleeping one more time buy when I got to the door I could tell she was getting up.  I went into my room and when I got back she was by her door upset and starting to cry.  Her whimper  just melted my heart.  As a parent if your child does something they shouldn’t I can understand making them sit in their room, but when they are scared you just can’t help but let them stay with you.

I remember when I was younger my parents comforting me and how nice it was.  Her room is bigger than mine so I know how scared she must be.  I told her she can crash in my room and she was excited.  She laid down in my bed by the cat and got all catty.  I told her she needed to sleep though and not to get all excited because she does need to go back to her room.  I don’t want her to think this is what she can do every time.  When I went to bed that night I picked her up and put her in her bed just because I want to make sure she knows she can sleep there and it is a safe room.  That morning I woke to her next to me. Lol.  Well she snuck back in!  It was okay, I don’t mind because I don’t see her that much.

The following night I asked her as we were walking up the stairs if she felt scared and she said she didn’t.  We red our books, listened to music, and brushed our teeth.  I was down stairs with Hughey again just watching some TV and she came down again.  My little munchie again was scared.  I took her back up and talked to her but she was just to upset to hear it.  I let her crash in bed again.  This night I took her out and put her in her room later that night.  Later I heard her get up and she walked to my room, I asked if she was okay and she answered “yea, I just wanted to say bye”.  Bye? Was she going on a trip I didn’t know about?  I hope she has her bags packed!  I knew she couldn’t sleep so I asked her if she wanted to come stay next to daddy.  She let out an excited yea and started to climb in.  She realized she forgot her bunny (stuffed animal that is) and ran to go get it.  I don’t mind her next to me much, she does move a lot and kick me, (lol) but only seeing her as much as I do I could care less.  I know it’s a phase they will grow out of but I still make sure she spends time in her room at night because she needs to know it is a safe place.  She enjoys playing in it during the day so I know there is a part of her that loves it.

Sometimes I like to think she just misses her Daddy…

So for some tips I would urge you to let your child talk to you and tell you what’s wrong if they can’t sleep.  If they are scared then talk to them and try to comfort them.  Always let them know you are listening and not blowing them off  If a child feels scared and then feels their parent isn’t listening or doesn’t care this will only make them more scared and feel less comforted.  Letting them stay in your bed is okay from time to time but they also need to know that their bed is where they sleep and Mommy and Daddy need to sleep too.  Nothing will break your heart than when they cry out that they are scared however.

Work on just moving them back to their bed and as time goes on they will stay there.  Heck they may not come back and you will miss the days when they crashed next to you.  Enjoy them and always remember being scared, and feeling fear especially in a child is different than us.  We may not scar as easy but to them the comfort of a nice bed that Daddy or Mommy use will put them at ease…

Always remember…
You are never alone.
Love Christopher

My Aunt, and brother came also, we had so much fun just enjoying the day.  Quinn loves seeing my parents gardens and picking vegetables.  We had some great food and Quinn ate very well!
